 LOUIS MOINET :  Artistic watchmaking master

Louis Moinet was born in Bourges in 1768. He learned the art of watchmaking from a master watchmaker and was simultaneously tutored in art by an Italian painter.  Seeking to share his great knowledge he published “the Traite de Horlogerie” in 1848, a landmark publication at the time.  His masterpieces are preserved in major European museums such as the Louvre.

Today, it is an independent company run by Jean-Marie Schaller and Micaela Bartolucci, two individuals with a passion for craftsmanship and watchmaking culture. They are dedicated to manufacturing personalised watches in limited editions and in one-of-a-kind models distinguished by their unique design. Louis Moinet timepieces represent a combination of art and technology.

  PERRELET : Inventor of automatic movement

The automatic watch movement with a central oscillating weight (“central rotor”) was invented by Abraham-Louis Perrelet in 1770.
